LAST CHANCE to see Sap, Straddle and Joy
This upcoming weekend is your last chance to see the work of Ana Lieberman, Celeste Pfau and Hannah Wides as curated by Lena Takamori at Wayfarers.
It’s Labor Day weekend, but the gallery will be open normal hours on Saturday and Sunday from 12-6pm, or else by appointment to firstname.lastname@example.org, attention of George Ferrandi.
Sap, Straddle and Joy
This Sunday, August 12, 7-10pm at Wayfarers, 1109 Dekalb Ave. between Malcolm X and Broadway:
Wayfarers presents an exhibition of painting, installation, sculpture works by Ana Lieberman, Celeste Pfau and Hannah Wides. Stroking, germinating, and whittling the works into the world, this show unabashedly emphasizes the joy and lust of art making. Much like an invasive Japanese vine, a balloon blown taught, or the elastic nature of a young cat’s body, these artists propose unfamiliar manifestationsof power, strength and generous pleasure.
One may expect to experience a combination of works that are reminiscent of a twig-legged bird standing atop a tree stump, carpeted in green moss – or - dried leaves and old buds float in an inflatable swimming pool under the thick-barked sapping tree – or – a thick, cylindrical stack of pancakes leaning to one side, black juices from the mulberries running down the sides and puddling on a delftware plate.
Sap, Straddle and Joy is curated by Lena Takamori, a peer to the artists and a pal within the Wayfarers community.
Works will be on exhibit August 12th – September 2nd
Gallery hours Saturday and Sunday 12 – 6 pm.

This Thursday, August 2nd, 7-10 pm. This is a free, one night only screening of Season 4 of Acid Rain, comprised of 11 episodes aired between September 2011 - July 2012. Season 4 in particular was acutely dark, brooding just below the surface, in ways that were often surprising, ambitious, and humorous. Aside from Jerstin, several of the participating artists acted as guest curators for this season, including Olivia Ciummo, Jesse Hulcher, and Matt Wellins, which added to the peripheral of this collection of 11 stunning works.
Participating artists include:
Kolbeinn Hugi Höskuldsson
Acid Rain is a series of curated video and film works by emerging artists that are doing interesting things with moving images. Each month we present/broadcast/exhibit one piece, by one artist, on cable access stations in Manhattan, in North Carolina, and on the internet.
